Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua is the winner of the 72nd Miss Universe 2023 in El Salvador. This is the first time Nicaragua has the winner at Miss Universe competition.
On the evening of November 18, the 72nd Miss Universe final night took place in El Salvador with the crown belonging to Sheynnis Palacios from Nicaragua. The 1st runner-up is Anntonia Porsild from Thailand and the 2nd one is Moraya Wilson from Australia.
The global competition occurred on Saturday in El Salvador, where 84 women will compete for the coveted title. R’Bonney Gabriel, who snagged the title of Miss Universe 2022 and became embroiled in a rigging scandal, will crown the winner. This year’s competition is set to be the most inclusive Miss Universe pageant yet, with mothers, married women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and a plus-size model among the contestants.
In top 3, Thailand, Australia, and Nicaragua all answered the same question: “If you could live one year in another woman’s shoes, who would you choose and why?” The queen from Nicaragua has a great answer: “I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she opened the gap to give an opportunity to many women. What I would do is to have that income gap would open up so women could work in any area that they choose to work in because there are no limitations for women. That was 1750. Now in 2023, we are making history.”
Sheynnis Palacios stands 1.8 meters tall and is 23 years old. In Nicaragua, she works as a social activist and model. The stunning queen placed in the top 40 in Miss World 2021 after winning Miss World Nicaragua 2020. She went on to compete in the Miss Universe pageant after that and was crowned Miss Universe Nicaragua 2023.
